“No one attended to the patient, the doctors behaved in a state of gross negligence,” said an initial report from the San Isidoro prosecutor’s office investigating the death of Diego Maradona, according to La Repubblica of Italy.
“No one was monitoring the patient, he was not under constant surveillance, as his condition requires. He did not receive any medications for his heart disease,” the report says.
“There is no doubt that the culprit is Dr. Leopoldo Luque. He coordinated this home care, which was complete chaos. The patient constantly confronted him,” added the prosecution.
Luke is described as “a man who wanted to go down in history as the man who saved Maradona.”
Prosecutors suspect that Leopoldo Luce performed Maradona’s brain surgery, but only attended.
Maradona was described as a “difficult patient”, but prosecutors stressed that “he was not treated according to good practice, even against his will.”
