The Republic of North Macedonia will not start EU membership talks until the end of the year, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said in an interview with Macedonian radio channel 77.
He said that he hopes that the dispute with Sofia will be resolved after the parliamentary elections in our country.
“I think we should wait for the elections to take place after the end of March.” he pointed.
Zaev also commented on the interview, in which he said that we have a common, not shared history, and that it sparked protests in the Republic of North Macedonia.
Politicians who don’t put their careers first are the decision-makers, Zaev said, citing as an example how Prime Minister Boyko Borissov has been criticized in Bulgaria for speaking out about the Macedonian language and people.

Vlado Buckovski: Bulgaria is the biggest ally of North Macedonia
Former Prime Minister Vlado Buckovski, who was appointed by the Zoran Zaev government as special envoy for Bulgaria, commented that “Bulgaria is our greatest ally, supporting the European membership of North Macedonia.”
Buckovski is optimistic that the Western Balkan countries, which have a common history, can find a solution.

“We have sincere intentions and we want to show that we believe in the Treaty of Friendship and Good Neighborliness.” Buckovski said in front of BNR.

According to him, North Macedonia will come to the European Union in 6-8-10 years.

Buckovski expressed his disappointment at the actions of the opposition in North Macedonia, but noted that these are internal problems of the country that he must solve.
