However, if someone decides to have a control PCR and the test is positive, whether they feel healthy or not, they are subject to a new quarantine. In more than one or two cases, after the coronavirus symptoms have passed, they continue to give positive samples in PCR tests. This happened to Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo. According to the Portuguese TV1, it has passed more than 18 positive tests, and some of them have been quarantined after 14 days.

“Typically, patients with more severe illnesses test positive for a longer period of time,” says associate professor Lyubomira Nikolaeva-Glomb, head of the Department of Virology at the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases.

According to her, most of the time a person gives positive samples a day, two before the appearance of symptoms and up to 7 days after the appearance of the first symptoms. However, practice shows that in some patients the virus particles remain in the body for more than a month.

“Some people take a long time, 2-3 weeks or more to give long-term PCR results without being de facto infectious. That is, they are not dangerous to society,” he said.
