Police and Vik-Burgas employees carried out an inspection in Rome’s “Victoria” neighborhood after a sign of an illegal tap for theft of water. This is happening in the context of the danger of a water crisis in the city due to the critically low level of the Kamchia Dam.
During the inspection in the neighborhood, a team from Vik-Burgas came across a self-made device, from which the Roma filled pipes with water.
If there is water in this pipe, then the water pipe is punctured. They have established that the water from this connection flows uncontrollably here and that is why the brigades come to eliminate it, explained Toncho Tonev from Vik-Burgas to the Bulgarian air ON AIR.
“This is an illegal fountain made by the gypsies in Komluka, the flow is around 10 liters in 10 seconds, they fill their pipes and return the water. For me, this is a waste, this purified water goes to the sea,” he commented the sender of the signal Todor Petkov.
A year ago, ViK-Burgas stopped the water on three streets in the neighborhood for unpaid bills of more than 100,000 BGN and installed three fountains on its own to prevent infections. However, the Roma also built an illegal tap, from which water flows throughout the day.
They say that water is stolen, no one steals water first, the second is that in “Tamara” we have not had water for two years, explained the gypsy leader Marian Fratev.
More than 3,000 people live in the neighborhood and there are only 13 official subscribers, everything else is illegally linked to the water supply network.
