A single-engine Bellanca Viking crashed on a busy highway in the US state of Minnesota and collided with an SUV, CBS reports. The pilot, his companion and the driver of the truck were not injured.
Craig Gifford, a 52-year-old professional pilot, said he had to land because the engine failed. Brittany Eureka, who was alone in the car, said she saw the plane a second before it crashed.

“I hit the brakes with both feet and, God forbid, I managed to stop in time. When I called 911, they did not believe that a plane had hit a car,” recalls an eyewitness in one of the reversing cars.
The American Experimental Aviation Association commented that Craig Gifford acted exactly as instructed. The pilots were trained in an emergency to land on the highway in the direction of the traffic and the landing was carried out exactly according to the rules.
