The CSKA team reached their second point in this year’s Europa League group stage campaign. This came after the native runner-up was not defeated during his visit to Cluj in the Romanian city of Napoca, finishing 0-0. CSKA played a very solid game in the north of our country, but even after their fifth group match they failed to score and one match before the final is still the only team in the Europa League groups that has not scored a goal. Despite the lack of goals, the team led by Bruno Akrapovic can continue to be satisfied with their performance at the Cluj stadium, after creating the situation and trying to score, although there was no chance on Thursday night.

Comments after the game:
Akrapovich: I’m satisfied, the goal will come
Graham Carey: We were unlucky against Cluj
Matthew: We’re not happy, we had to fight
Ali Sow: I have to try harder in front of goal
Bruno Akrapovich qualified his team in a 3-4-1-2 scheme, which he has been relying on since he coached the “red” team. The attack was led by Sou and Yomov, and Yunus Sankare was behind them. Ahead of Gustavo Busato were Petar Zanev, Valentin Antov and Jurgen Matej, and Graham Kerry and Thibaut Vion were midfielders during the match. Jefferson and Amos Yuga played each other.
The first big chance of the match went to Cluj. Chipchiu crosses a foul, and Mikael Pereira was left uncovered and finished off with his head, and the ball got tangled in the net, but on the side and the game continued after the out. In the fifth minute, CSKA came within inches of scoring their first goal. The ball was crossed from a corner, and Valentin Antov deflected with a fifth, but the Cluj Camora captain of goal kicked the ball forward.
In the 12th minute Jefferson made a nightmarish mistake after a pass from Antov, and Debelyukh stole the ball and slammed into the Bulgarian goal. A powerful kick with his left foot followed, but Busato with a brilliant reflection parried the ball and saved a sure goal in his goal. Five minutes later, Amos Yuga allowed Peacock to shoot hard from mid range, but the ball flew over Busato’s goal.

Strong play by both teams followed, which, however, did not offer positions in front of both gates. At 35, Camora crossed for Debelyukh, but the “Railways” striker did not press the ball enough and flew over the Bulgarian goal. A minute later, Yomov fought very well in the CSKA half and escaped with a ball to his leg, boldly continuing on to Cluj’s. The Bulgarian midfielder turned left towards Yunus Sankare, who tried to find Ali Sow with a pass, but rather vaguely and CSKA’s attack was stopped.
The second half began with the rescue of Bulgardean, who had to intervene after a strong long shot from Amos Yuga, but Cluj’s point guard kicked the ball away from his door. The clearest situation for CSKA came after 69 minutes of play. Amos Yuga merged with Sankare, and immediately saw Ali Sow on the right. The Gambian hit hard with his right foot, but a split from a Cluj defender blocked his experience and the game continued after a corner for CSKA, from which nothing interesting followed. A moment later, midfielder Sankare tried a delicate shot with his left foot, but his experience did not hinder Balgardean.
A quarter of an hour before the end, Camora tried a powerful blow with his left foot, but inaccurately. In the 77th minute Vion crossed down the right and Yomov missed to intercept, after which Sow touched the ball with his head but missed Balgardean’s goal and play continued after a Romanian out.
Three minutes later, subsidiary Thiago Rodríguez set up a great free kick cross and several CSKA players missed the ball, after which the side referee’s flag was raised for an ambush. Five minutes before the end, Chipchiu was sent off with a second yellow card after requesting a penalty for a foul against him, but the referee sent him off. Chipchiu entered CSKA’s penalty area and fell after a duel with Valentin Antov, and the referee sent the Cluj midfielder off.
There was pressure from CSKA as the “reds” occupied the Cluj penalty area. Thiago Rodríguez tried to beat Balgardean with a powerful shot, but the Cluj goalkeeper killed the ball and saved a sure goal in his goal. The ball went sideways for Sow, who tried hard with his right foot, but also inaccurately: out.
Next Thursday is CSKA’s sixth game in group “A”, which is the last, as the team receives the great Italian Roma of “Vasil Levski”.
