The new water prices for 26 different regions of the country will be discussed in the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC). The regulator’s proposals range from a 6 percent price increase to a 22 percent drop in the prices of various water companies.

To determine whether there will be an increase or decrease in the price of water supply and sewerage services in the different regions of the third year, the regulator has verified the implementation of the companies’ 5-year business plans, said Ivaylo Kaschiev. from EWRC to Bulgarian National Radio.

“Until now, the change in approved prices was related only to accumulated inflation. “Now the real work that companies do in terms of implementing investment programs and quality indicators is reported,” he said.

The increase of water supply and sewerage services is planned in 7 cities, the largest of 6% and is for Sofia and Razgrad.

The reduction is planned for 16 settlements, the largest in Vidin – by almost 22%, in Sliven – 17%, in Yambol and Dobrich – 14-15%.

The price of water in Montana is unchanged.

For the first time, the Haskovo and Targovishte water companies have approved business plans. There, as well as in the cities of Varna, Silistra, Montana, Shumen, Vratsa, Dobrich, Lovech and Stara Zagora, the service will cost more than BGN 3 per cubic meter. The most expensive will be in Razgrad: 3.63 BGN.
