The man is now 41 years old
Stockholm police detained a 70-year-old woman on suspicion of having kept her son locked up for 28 years, TASS reported, citing the Expressen newspaper.
According to the newspaper, a relative visited his home and saw a man scared to death, toothless and his legs covered with wounds and abrasions, who could barely stand up and answer questions.
The relative had suspected for years that the mother had isolated her son from society. He immediately called an ambulance and the 41-year-old was taken to hospital. Doctors describe his condition as serious.

According to other acquaintances, the mother took her son out of school at the beginning of the seventh grade and since then he has been locked up all the time. Her mother suggested that everyone – relatives, neighbors, acquaintances and society in general – wanted to harm them and only she could protect them both.
In an interview with the newspaper, the relative said that in her youth she suspected that something was wrong in this family, but when she shared her suspicions with others, no one believed her.
To date, the police have not questioned the mother or her son.
