As of today, the system that allows GPs to issue electronic referrals for free PCR tests to their patients should work.
“No contact referrals will be issued, there will be no one-time follow-up or fundraising, then the second time, they will not be issued. And again, I mean, only for sick people or people going abroad or in a resort. They will also not receive referrals and will not go to their GPs at all, “said Dr. Georgi Mindov, president of the Sofia General Practitioners Association.
He explained that if the patient had an antigen test, he was not entitled to receive a free PCR test.
“Which is indirect proof that the fund currently recognizes the antigen test, unfortunately what happens in practice is that when you go to the hospital the antigen test is not valid and it must be a PCR test,” said Dr. Mindov.
He thanked the Medical Association and the negotiators that the regulation on the issuance of PCR references has been eliminated and that in this way the GPs can issue the required number of tests and have no limit.
Dr. Mindov noted that the electronic PCR instructions prevent potential COVID-infected individuals from contacting other people, because they only need to call their personal physician.
“He will call his personal physician, tell him what he has, collect the information, assess the condition and shortly after the patient will receive an alphanumeric code, which is for the laboratory and can go to the nearest laboratory. , to provide your identity card, the code in the laboratory and it will be examined free of charge ”, explained Dr. Mindov.
He urged patients to be patient because the procedure takes time.
