The house where the tragedy occurred
The Varna District Prosecutor’s Office has brought the 36-year-old SS accused of murder to court, the state prosecutor’s press center announced.
We remind you that the shocking story of domestic violence that ended in murder shocked Varna. Stoyan, 35, strangled his partner Stoyanka, who has three children, while they slept in the next room. The drama takes place in Novo Oryahovo. The man was arrested after two days earlier alerted Stoyanka’s mother that he had disappeared.
The family was married and had three minor children: two girls and a boy. They lived in poverty, without a stable income from employment. Furthermore, the accused and the victim had frequent scandals caused by mutual jealousy. They broke up and reunited, most recently in March 2020.
After midnight, around one o’clock on April 1, 2020, another similar dispute broke out. In its heat, the two were facing each other in the middle of the room. The victim pushed the defendant, who repeatedly hit her on the head and face, threw her on the bed and began to suffocate her. Fighting back, she managed to skin him, but he didn’t stop his actions, despite her pleas for them to stop. When he felt that his wife was no longer breathing or moving, he stepped aside. He found out that he had killed her and decided to cover up his crime.
He dug a hole in the yard of the house. He wrapped the body in a sheet and buried it, making an effort to disguise the grave with the rubbish there. He decided to lie that the victim had fled with another man to another town, so he broke down and threw his mobile phone and watch into the outside bathroom, collected his personal belongings in a bag and hid it next to the fence of the house.
In the morning he went to see his wife’s parents and told them that she had run away with someone else, abandoning his children and himself. They did not believe this version and took steps to find their relative.
On April 2, 2020, after a careful inspection of the courtyard, they noticed the masked grave. They dug up the place and found the body wrapped in a sheet. The police were immediately called and the criminal proceedings under way began.
In the course of the investigation, the victim’s phone, watch and personal belongings were found, hidden from the accused. He made partial confessions of guilt. Biological traces were also found pointing to the crime. Adequate experience complemented the establishment of the factual situation described above.
SS was subjected to criminal responsibility for a crime under art. 115 of the Penal Code and detained. If convicted, he could be sentenced to between 10 and 20 years in prison.
A preliminary hearing on the case will be held shortly.
