Moderna will sell its future novel coronavirus vaccine to governments for $ 25 to $ 37 per dose, depending on the quantity ordered. This is what the company’s chief executive, Stefan Barcel, told the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag, Reuters reported.
“The vaccine costs us about the same as the flu vaccine, which is between $ 10 and $ 50,” he said. The European Commission wants to reach an agreement with Moderna to supply millions of doses of its vaccine at a price of less than $ 25 a dose.
“Nothing has been signed yet, but we are close to an agreement with the European Commission. We want to deliver a vaccine to Europe and we are conducting constructive negotiations,” Barcelona told the German newspaper. An agreement is expected soon. The effectiveness of the Moderna vaccine is 94.5%, the company announced. Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 58 million cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed worldwide.
