General practitioners will be able to write prescriptions over the phone. This proposal was adopted after a meeting of the Minister of Health with the Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Union. The GPs will give your pharmacist the identification code so that they can administer the necessary medication to the patient. The idea of opening more 24-hour pharmacies in the country and selling drugs in stores has been abandoned.
The idea of a phone connection between a personal doctor and a pharmacist is only for emergencies when the patient cannot reach the jeep or is not entitled due to quarantine.
“When the patient goes to the pharmacy, he will be able to contact his doctor and give the pharmacist the opportunity to know that he is really referred by a doctor. This should not be a reason to sanction the pharmacist for granting therapy in this way,” commented the President of the Bulgarian Medical Union, Dr. Ivan Madjarov.
Possible options are still being considered. These include a phone call or message from your GP through Viber.
“Every doctor has a UIN, he can send the prescription through Viber, he just doesn’t have the paper,” explained the president of the Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Union, Professor Asena Serbezova.

However, some pharmacists strongly oppose this idea, as it can lead to serious abuse.
“For me, this is not an acceptable option. We still refuse to talk to anyone on the phone. Now, in the current situation, it is absolutely unacceptable. I don’t even know who I’m talking to: a doctor or a random citizen. that someone comes to me with a UIN does not prove that they are a doctor, since the UIN appears in public space, “said pharmacist Valentina Moskova.
Clients also disagree.
“The situation is such that many things have to be taken into account. In this case, this could also be possible if the GP knows well the patients he works with. There can always be abuse, it’s a matter of honor, ”said one client.
The Bulgarian Medical Union will recommend to general practitioners to write down the possibility of generic drug substitution in their prescriptions. In this way, patients will obtain the necessary medications more quickly.
“In one pharmacy there is one preparation, in another another. Patients should be able to receive a product without walking,” said Dr. Madjarov.
Details of the proposals have yet to be discussed and should be clear by the end of the week.
