The revalidation of Bulgarian personal documents declared invalid, previously declared lost or stolen, is stopped. This was decided by the Parliament with the approval of the second reading of the amendments to the Bulgarian Personal Documents Law.
Identification card and / or passport declared invalid cannot be declared valid. The objective is thus to achieve compliance with the information on documents in the information system of the Ministry of the Interior, Interpol and the Schengen Information System, indicated in the reasons for the modifications.
The reasons for declaring identity documents and passports invalid are also specified, as well as the possibility of doing so at the explicit request of a person, if there is a suspicion that their personal data has been misused.
Proposals from the governing “Patriots United” coalition that people from Bulgarian communities abroad could apply for and receive a “Bulgarian” identity card with which they could live and work only on the territory of Bulgaria were not accepted.
