The objective is to reduce the resources to be used in the treatment of patients with coronavirus. Oncological and emergency operations are not prohibited. This was stated by the Minister of Health Prof. Kostadin Angelov to BNT on the occasion of the restriction of planned operations in the COVID situation.

The problem of the health system has been perennial, it has not been reformed. But now is not the time to make sudden moves and changes. We have enough hospital beds. Bulgaria is one of the EU countries with the highest number of hospital beds per capita. However, Bulgaria is also a country with a severe shortage of doctors and nurses. There are around 4,000 doctors and nurses in the intensive care unit in Germany. The problem is all over the world: the shortage and the small number of doctors. This profession seems to have lost its appeal in our country, he said.

As of January 1, the salaries of each doctor will be increased by BGN 600 gross, BGN 360 per nurse and BGN 120 per nurse. The crisis has exposed all the truths. The number of infectious diseases is small. There are very few applicants, the minister said.

When the incidence reaches 600 people per 100,000 in 14 days, we move on to the next step. We are currently monitoring the numbers, following a clear action plan with organizational and mobilization steps. At the national level, there is no shortage of drugs. There is a higher demand and stocks and therefore difficult to find in pharmacies. The indiscriminate use of drugs, starting with even the most harmless paracetamol, in large quantities is a risk to health and life, said Professor Angelov.

The electronic prescription was presented at the expert level. Let people listen to their experts and doctors, and not be treated with recipes from the Internet, said the minister.

We are preparing texts for the abolition of the quarantine of doctors and nurses, because in this way with a single sick doctor, entire wards are left without specialists, Professor Angelov commented.

Dr. Penchev is at the RHI, at that time he had serious personal reasons for resigning, he explained.

Confinement is an extremely severe measure. We currently have calls from individuals and organizations to make it happen, said the minister and explained that it should be analyzed whether this will reduce the number of new infected, since in the countries where such measures are imposed, there is no significant decrease in the number of new infected . to get sick.

For me, the preparation of the system during the summer was absolutely adequate. I think Bulgaria is doing well. I want to express my gratitude to all Bulgarian doctors, nurses and citizens who understand the measures. Let’s think about measures, because together we can defeat this infection when we act rightly, not emotionally. Bulgarian doctors are not angry with anyone, they love their patients, he concluded.
