Education Minister Krassimir Valchev

School year zero is not possible, but options for differentiated unlearning will be discussed. This was announced by the Minister of Education, Krassimir Valchev, to the Bulgarian National Radio.

It is about extending the learning process during the summer months when necessary. Following the quarantine this spring and the approval of all distance education schools in the summer, many of them organized recovery activities. It is still unclear what type of summer training, if any, will be chosen by the end of the 2020/2021 school year.

1,250 schools in the country have not been exposed to the coronavirus, but there are suspicions that many children have the disease asymptomatically, the minister said.

“It is advisable to make a schedule for Christmas. Now, this general prohibition for students from 6th to 12th grade will continue for one or two weeks. We must have an alternation of distance and face-to-face training. I see that many people have started to follow the measures more strictly, if the morbidity values improve, we will begin to alternate classes. They have to study more 8th grade, especially language classes, 7th grade too, “explained Valchev.

The 66-year-old mathematician died on Friday compared to Saturday in the intensive care unit after a 3-day stay at the University Hospital – Burgas. His positive test came out last Monday, when he felt symptoms. He stayed home, but an ambulance was called on the second day. According to her acquaintances, Stoyanova suffered from diabetes, which in combination with COVID-19 likely dramatically worsened her condition. His school was one of the first in Burgas to be completely online. Among those infected is deputy headmaster Stancho Slavov, former head of the mathematics high school in Burgas and co-founder with Stoyanova 6 years ago of the private school. He was admitted to the hospital hours after the director, but his condition quickly stabilized.

A few days ago, the deputy principal of the Elin Pelin school in Rouen died of COVID-19.
