Bulgaria lost to Finland in a Group 4 match in Division B of the Nations League.
The match was the penultimate of the tournament for the “lions”, but Georgi Dermendzhiev’s team did not achieve the first victory in the race.
The team recorded a draw at the start against Ireland, followed by three consecutive defeats.
Tonight the defeat was with a goal difference – 1: 2, as our team received the right to take two penalties, but scored only one shot from the penalty spot.
Dimitar Iliev scored just three minutes after his appearance on the field, and shortly before Galin Ivanov did not take his penalty well and did not return us to an earlier stage in the clash.
Puki opened after just 7 minutes of play, and during the first half Lod scored 0: 2.

Bulgaria 1: 2 Finland, Mitko Iliev goal from penalty!
The Lions strike back!
The first part has not started in the best possible way for our team. The guests possessed the ball more frequently, pushing our team to its own half.
The pressure from the Finns took effect, and after 7 minutes of play, Puki was easily taken out alone against Lukov, beating the “lions” guard with enviable confidence by 0: 1.
Several new actions followed for our national rival, and in three consecutive cases “Suomi’s” lead was doubled.
Midway through the half, Bulgaria also began to show skills in leading positions. Karabelov scored with a good shot, and shortly after Popov’s center, he found Galin Ivanov, who was accelerating in the area, who shot his head but was unable to sign.
These were the opportunities for our team in attack, and in combination with the unconvincing performances of the defense of the “tricolor”, new and new preconditions were constantly created to increase the advantage of our opponents.
This happened during the first half, when Puki had a new opportunity to shoot, he did, at first Lukov intervened well, but with the incorporation of Lod he did not have the necessary visibility and reaction time and allowed the ball to re-enter in the Bulgarian goal. Thus, immediately before the break, the advantage of the guests increased, which made the task of our team even more difficult.
After exactly one hour of play, Yankov was brought down in the penalty area and Bulgaria was entitled to take an 11-meter penalty.
Behind the ball was Galin Ivanov, whose performance, however, was not good and a goal was not scored.
In the 65th minute Dimitar Iliev appeared on the field, and only three minutes later, for a hand in the penalty area, the “tricolores” had a new opportunity to shoot a penalty.
Iliev got behind the ball and shot with precision, sending our team back into the crash.
However, there was no new change in the result, which meant a new defeat for the team, under the leadership of Georgi Dermendzhiev.
Historically, Bulgaria has a huge advantage in clashes with the Finns: out of 10 games we have won 7, we have suffered 2 losses and, once, no winner has been announced.
