Bulgaria lost 1: 2 to Finland and recorded another defeat in the Nations League. The guests got the result with goals from Teemu Puki (7) and Robin Lod (45), the goal of honor for Bulgaria was scored by Dimitar Iliev (68 from a penalty).
Thus, the “lions” have only one point in five games and are the last of the group. Our team has already finished 1: 1 with Ireland in Sofia and have fallen twice from Wales (0: 1 and 0: 1) and Finland (0: 2 and 1: 2).
It should be noted that Bulgaria has only two successes in its last 21 official matches. Against 6 draws and 13 defeats.
Overall, Georgi Dermendzhiev’s players were, to put it mildly, tragic and did not show that they deserved to wear the national jersey. The ‘lions’ fall was completed in the 60th minute, when Galin Ivanov, left-handed, missed our first penalty.
Bulgaria’s next Nations League game is next Wednesday against Ireland in Dublin.
In the 7th minute the guests took advantage of the disorganization of the Bulgarian defense. Robert Taylor went through the middle after Christian Dimitrov and Dimitar Velkonski failed to stop him.
Teemu Puki came out alone against Lukov and found the result without problems. Two minutes later, from a static position, the ball was crossed to Janis Karabelov, whose shot, however, was caught by goalkeeper Hradecki.
The match continued with a slight lead from the guests, but in the 27th minute the Bulgarians created a good attack. Strahil Popov tried and crossed, Galin Ivanov passed Glenn Camara in the center of the area, but his header went inches off the crossbar. Immediately after that, Domenik Yankov and Spas Delev tried long shots, but without success.
In the last 7-8 minutes of the first half the two teams exchanged a situation. First, Bozhikov intercepted a Robin Lod pass from the left, and then Malinov shot high after breaking free from a defender in the corner of the penalty area.
In the last minute of the first half, the Finns reached the second goal, and its author was Robin Lod. Teemu Puki was not stopped by Strahil Popov, he entered the area and fired. Lukov deflected, but none of the defense secured and Lod from 2 meters sent the ball to the net.
Our team started more actively in the second half and in the 59th minute came a penalty from Dominik Yankov. Bozhidar Kraev took the ball in midfield, combined with Spas Delev, who with one touch brought in Yankov.
There, our footballer was literally beheaded by Tim Sparve. However, goalkeeper Lukasz Hradecki saved Galin Ivanov’s shot and in extra time Bozhidar Kraev shot very weakly and took the ball from 4 meters.
In the 68th minute Bulgaria received a second penalty, this time for a hand from Arayuri. Spas Delev took a corner as only he could, and the guest defender hit the ball with his hand.
Dimitar Iliev, who had just entered, did not make a mistake from 11 meters, although this time Hradetski captured the direction of the shot. In the 74th minute, the Finns made a very good attack, as Nikolai Alho’s cross shot was barely reflected by Lukov.
