The Bulgarian health authorities observe a constant trend of increasing the number of people cured daily in the country: almost 1000 people per day. This was said at a briefing in the Council of Ministers regarding the distribution of COVID-19 by the Minister of Health, Prof. Dr. Kostadin Angelov.

“The total number of sick doctors is 3459, active cases are 1802, at home there are 1672, in hospitals – 121, in the intensive care unit 9. So far we have 22 deaths, including 17 doctors, 2 nurses, two paramedics, 1 paramedic, “Professor Angelov told reporters.

According to him, the measures so far show that we managed to cope with infection control: we are in the middle of a 14-day morbidity, according to yesterday’s 14-day mortality data Bulgaria is in seventh place out of 30 countries. Mortality from coronavirus infection in our country is comparable to that of countries such as France and Spain.

He also focused on self-medication with antibiotics. “Azithromycin and any other antibiotic do not cure the coronavirus. It is prescribed in cases where there is a risk of bacterial infection. Therefore, starting an antibiotic and dexamethasone in the early stages of the disease can cause death,” warned Professor Angelov . .

Professor Angelov commented that there is a certain lack of understanding as to why schools are not closed. He said that the philosophy is where there are 15% of patients to bring the school to distance education. The minister recalled that from that moment on the local authorities can analyze and evaluate stricter measures.

“There is a measure that is talked about a lot: the restriction of people to 65 and 65. We arrived at it after an exceptional analysis. At the beginning there were several options: having 3-hour corridors, then having a corridor, there was a proposal for two corridors of two hours each. After talking with the merchants, they said that this would make the work difficult, so we chose from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. There are days when we may have lower temperatures, so we will move the corridor from 14.00 at 4:00 pm. If we see that there is a crowd of people, this corridor will widen in time. There are exceptions that will be decided individually, “explained Prof. Angelov.

“The coronavirus vaccine will be voluntary and free for all Bulgarian citizens. We hope to complete the negotiations and the vaccination registration at the European level. Of the first 6 vaccines to be produced, Bulgaria has expressed interest in 3 of them. These three vaccines They are from will be the first to register with the European Medicines Agency, which guarantees its safety, applicability and standards of high quality and efficacy, and Bulgarians will have access to this vaccine; all those who are interested will do so voluntarily “There is for all vulnerable groups: citizens over 65, people with chronic diseases and those at the forefront: Bulgarian doctors. It will not be included in Bulgaria’s vaccination schedule, “he added.
