The police are protesting on their professional vacation on November 8, the Bulgarian National Radio announced.
The demands are for a 30% increase in salaries in the Interior Ministry system. Last week, there were talks between the various unions in the ministry and the ministry’s leadership. Following the talks, in which Prime Minister Boyko Borissov also participated, it became clear that the salaries of employees of the Interior Ministry will be increased by 15% from next year. However, the Trade Union Federation of Employees is protesting.
One of the unions organized a protest in the garden next to the “St. Sedmochislenitsi” church. After that, a procession to the buildings of the Ministry of Finance and Parliament is planned. The discontent arose after a decree of the Council of Ministers for a 30% increase in the salaries of employees in 28 administrations of the country.
Valentin Popov, from the Trade Union Federation of the Ministry of the Interior, commented: “I agree that, in the context of which up to 30 percent, which are mentioned in the decree, 10 percent really sounds a bit offensive to we”.
A reaction from Interior Minister Hristo Terziiski followed: “There have been several demands from them in recent months. We are having a good dialogue.”
