There are 39,811 new cases of coronavirus registered in the country per day

Italy has registered 39,811 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the country’s Health Ministry said today, cited by Reuters. This is the highest number so far and is more than the 37,809 confirmed cases on Friday.

More and more countries are reintroducing quarantine

The ministry also reported 425 COVID-19-related deaths, up from 446 the day before. A total of 41,063 people have died so far from COVID-19 in Italy, where 902,490 people have been infected since the epidemic began.

Quarantine in Milan and much of northern Italy

The northern region of Lombardy, whose capital is the Italian business capital Milan, remains the worst affected region with 11,489 new cases today at 9,934 yesterday. Neighboring Piedmont District ranks second with 4,437 and 4,878 cases respectively over the past two days.
