He was sworn in as a senator in a hospital room, along with his two sons, Hunter and Bo, who were seriously injured.
Joe Biden overcame the tragedy, traveling an hour and a half from the Capitol to his home in Delaware by train every night. In 1988, he suffered multiple aneurysms and survived a life-saving 9-hour operation.
The tragedies do not stop here. In 2015, Biden lost his son Bo, who died of brain cancer at the age of 46.
Biden is running for president for the third time: the first time he lost with a weak campaign, the second time he competed with Barack Obama in the primary election for the Democratic presidential nomination.
The beginning of this electoral campaign was not easy either: in the first primaries in Iowa and New Hampshire he obtained poor results, but then he returned to his posts with the primary vote in South Carolina. His opponents in the race for the nomination surrendered in his favor and thus they came face to face with Donald Trump. When he accepts the nomination he says:
