Bulgarians triggered over 80% jump in aspirin sales in Edirne

Visitors from Bulgaria led to an increase of more than 80 percent in aspirin sales in Edirne pharmacies, Turkish private television NTV reported, cited by BTA.

Compared to the same period last year, the district’s pharmacies, located near the Bulgarian border, reported an 84 percent increase in sales of the drug in the last three months.

Due to the growing interest of Bulgarians, who buy 5 to 10 cans of the drug, there are no longer 100 milligrams of aspirin in warehouses, says the chairman of the control board of the Edirne Chamber of Pharmacy, Sükrü Jiravoglu.

The influx of Bulgarians has led many district pharmacies to put up information boards in Bulgarian, television said.

Jiravoglu recalled that, according to several scientists, aspirin, which helps thin the blood, reduces mortality in Kovid-19.

At the same time, however, he warned that the drug should be used only after consulting a doctor.
