A serious accident in the Assumption of the Archangel claimed victims. Three people were killed in a collision between a jeep and a bus.
The incident occurred this morning on the Botevgrad – Vratsa highway, near the town of Litakovo.
The bus was carrying 40 workers. The driver and passenger of the jeep lost their lives on the spot.
Later, one of the bus passengers lost his life at the hospital. Another passenger and the driver of the vehicle were injured.
Witnesses say the jeep overtook another car and entered the opposite lane. The bus driver slowed but did not stop. There was a terrible frontal collision, after which the flight collided with a tree on the side of the road.
“It even smelled like oil and we thought the bus was on fire,” Petya said.
“We all started fighting to get off the bus, we went out the window,” Veselka recalled.
“He took out a hammer and hit the glass, I kicked and the drivers of other buses started coming from there to start helping us and getting us out,” Maria said.
Two of the women sitting in the front seats and the driver were seriously injured in the collision.
“There was a woman in front of the bus who jumped out of a window, I prevented the glass from falling on her and then three of us pulled at the steering wheel to get the driver out,” Miroslav said.
The first ambulance arrives in 11 minutes. The three victims were taken to the capital St. Anna, where one of the wounded lost the battle for his life.
“A 64-year-old man with bilateral leg fractures, on the right, with an open fracture, the woman with a chest and abdominal trauma, the injuries are serious for all,” explained Dr. Slavcho Bliznakov, director of Hospital St Anna.
The young people who died in the jeep are under 20 years old, they are from Botevgrad.
