An important part of the free time of the people under socialism was spent in queuing.
At that time, 50% of the costs were for food, now we spend only 20%
In 2019, 628 people died on Bulgarian roads. At the same time, the registered cars are just over 3.5 million.
In 1973, only one million motor vehicles were registered in Bulgaria, but 1,066 people died on the roads.
In fact, the blackest year on Bulgarian roads is 1990. Then 1,567 people died in traffic accidents. The conclusion is that
socialism away
it was not so much
safe and secure,
as it seems to some.
And today, in general, there are many more trips. For example, during one of the best and most prosperous socialist years: 1980, 756,631 Bulgarians traveled abroad. Most likely, most have visited neighboring Yugoslavia or Romania, the USSR, and other sister socialist countries.
If we move directly to 2019, we will see that in September 2019 alone, the number of Bulgarians who traveled abroad was 653,570, and more than half of them went to EU countries.
Observations of family budgets show that in 1962 the Bulgarian received an annual income of BGN 487, of which BGN 225 came from wages. The balance of up to BGN 487 comes from pensions, income from cooperative activities, etc.
He spent an average of 461 BGN per year on this money, that is, he has managed to save no more than 26 BGN per year.
Of these 461 per year 211 BGN, or
approximately
half are
it was for food,
which is too much.
Towards the end of “mature socialism”: In 1985, the average Bulgarian has gotten a bit richer and already earns BGN 1990 per year, but he spends a total of BGN 1,836 of them, and to fill his refrigerator, he needs BGN 752, or about 40%.
Viden’s hyperinflation destroyed this prosperity. After the denomination of the money in 1999, the Bulgarian has an income of BGN 1,502 per year and spends BGN 1,301, of which BGN 1,112 goes to food, which is the most of all time.
Today, the total annual income is 6013 lev. Of these, the Bulgarian spends 5,772 BGN and only 1,714 BGN goes to food, or about 20%.
Or it turns out that the claim that life was better with Zhivkov is not true at all.
