Democrat Joe Biden increased his fragile lead over President Donald Trump after a radical change in Pennsylvania that led House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to call him “the president-elect” of the United States.
He is ahead of President Donald Trump in several key states, but the winner has yet to be announced.
If his victory in Pennsylvania is officially announced, Biden, who already has 253 electoral votes, will receive another 20 and thus his assembly will exceed the 270 it needs to win.
It seemed clear this morning that the Biden-Harris team would win the race for the White House, Pelosi told a news conference, adding: “President-elect Biden has a strong mandate to govern.”
“The Americans will decide the outcome of this election. And the American authorities are fully capable of expelling the intruders from the White House,” Biden’s spokesman Andrew Bates said shortly thereafter.
Return to Pennsylvania
In the state of Pennsylvania, Biden is ahead of Trump with 9,027 votes, Reuters reported. This means that Biden is closing in on victory.
In Georgia, which has 16 electoral votes, the race remains highly controversial, Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said at a news conference in Atlanta. “With such a small difference, there will be a count in Georgia,” he said. According to the sociological agency “Edison Research”, cited by Reuters, Biden has an advantage of 1,579 votes. As a percentage of 99 percent of the votes counted, both Trump and Biden have 49.4 percent of the votes each.
So far, Biden has secured the support of 253 voters. It takes 270 votes to win the 538-member Electoral College.
Newsletters are currently being counted in five key states: Nevada, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Arizona, and North Carolina. In Nevada, the advantage for the Democrat is more than 20,000 votes. In Arizona, Biden also currently leads with 43,569 votes or 50.0 to 48.6 percent of the votes, with 92 percent of the votes counted.
Trump has a 70,000 vote lead in North Carolina alone (15 electoral votes).
Biden leads emphatically in the other four states. The Democratic candidate is now considered the new safe owner of the White House. Your competitor’s chances of reelection remain illusory.
On Thursday night, Biden said he was confident of victory and asked everyone to remain calm as the vote counting continues. We have no doubt that when the countdown ends, Senator Harris and I will be declared the winners. Therefore, I ask everyone to remain calm, Biden told reporters.
The Associated Press notes that it may take several more days for the final vote count in various states to announce the winner. With millions of ballots still unnumbered, Biden has already received the support of 73 million Americans, the most in the nation’s history.
Stop
Amid the unfinished count, Trump made a statement at the White House announcing that there were numerous electoral irregularities, but without giving any proof. His accusations caused several major television stations to cut their live broadcasts. According to FoxNews, ABC, CBS, NBC and MSNBC interrupted Trump’s statement shortly after it began. Most broadcast for about five minutes, after which some presenters said the president was making false accusations.
Trump’s behavior is about to cause a scandal. Renowned comedian and television host Stephen Colbert said the president was trying to “overshadow the most sacred right” of Americans, adding, “If you didn’t know Biden was approaching 270, you can be sure now.” Colbert asked Republicans to disassociate themselves from Trump’s claims.
Renowned Republican Senator Chris Christie also asked Trump to provide some evidence.
“Let him present evidence, he has not done so yet. He has the right to speak from the White House, and I assure you that if what he says is true, I would be very angry. But I would like to know how he will support his claims. “he told ABC.
According to The Guardian, Trump has told many falsehoods in his statement. First, it alleged that there was evidence of irregularities in the electoral process, without presenting such evidence. He also said that in Pennsylvania, Democrats allowed ballots to be accepted three days after Election Day. In fact, the decision rests with the Supreme Court of the United States. Trump also ensures that the authorities in charge of the elections in Georgia are controlled by Democrats, and the truth is that it is headed by a representative of the Republicans.
