The Sofia District Prosecutor’s Office filed a complaint regarding the first part of BTV’s investigation into the HelpCarma donation platform and how the employees received high salaries with some of the donated funds, and the foundation granted a loan to its technical director to buy an apartment.

The Office of the Prosecutor announced that they will carry out an inspection, in the course of which it will be established whether there is sufficient data for a general crime and according to what text of the Penal Code is involved.

BTV released a report on how the HelpCarma Foundation, registered in public use, accumulates part of the money donated for its livelihood, for the salaries of its employees, and according to public reports of the last two years the salaries in the foundation in 2018 reached 8 %, and in 2019 up to almost 9% of all donations received.

“The foundation is primarily dedicated to helping children in need of urgent medical treatment, and there are currently many active causes for which money is raised. However, the donation platform site did not make it clear in detail how the money is spent. money. from donors, ”writes the prosecution.
