An employee who has been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 will be able to switch to telecommuting or home work. This was accepted by the deputies in second reading with modifications to the Law of Measures and Actions during the State of Emergency. However, this will be possible if the job allows it after notifying the employer in writing. The conditions and the order of control will be determined by order of the employer.
The deputies extended by 6 new months the term of the identity cards and passports, which expire in the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic. So far, the law has stipulated that the validity of certificates and brochures, which expire between March 13 and October 31, must be extended for a period of 6 months. The bill now provides for this deadline to be changed from March 13 to January 31 next year. During an emergency epidemic, foreigners administrative control services can extend the stay for three months of persons who have entered the territory of Bulgaria under the conditions of the visa-free regime for short-term residence, as well as persons who have entered on a short-term residence visa.
If the epidemic situation becomes more complicated, the presidents of the courts will establish an organization to defer cases for no more than 30 days. In addition, it is established that anyone who has agreed to receive notifications and subpoenas in cases of e-mail will be notified only in this way. During an epidemic situation and two months after its cancellation, court hearings will be held by videoconference. The deputies returned the opportunity to all state and local collective bodies to hold meetings at a distance. The deputies rejected the MRF’s proposal not to close parties in court during the state of emergency or in a state of emergency.
