Former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has been arrested and has already been transferred to a detention center at the Kosovo court in The Hague, the court said in a statement cited by world agencies.

Earlier yesterday, Thaci resigned as Kosovo’s head of state after the Special Court in The Hague confirmed the war crimes charges against him.

Kadri Veseli, Recep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi are also in custody. Former President Thaci, the leader of the Democratic Party Veseli and the chairman of the Selimi Self-Determination movement parliamentary group have announced that they want to surrender voluntarily.

All are charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity committed between March 1998 and September 1999 in Kosovo and northern Albania.
