After the lack of a quorum for the work of the deputies on Wednesday, today the ruling majority between the GERB and the United Patriots supported changes in the Regulations of the National Assembly, with which non-members of the parliamentary groups will have the same time to speak from the parliamentary rostrum. the smallest parliamentary group. The condition is that the so-called independents be more than ten, as is a requirement to form a group. It has been fulfilled, as there are currently 17 non-members in groups.
Independents still have the right to read the statements from the rostrum if they have the support of ten people.
The initiators of the changes are the BSP dissidents, who, led by the failed candidate for party leader Krassimir Yankov, declare themselves an informal group of progressive socialists. According to the BSP deputies, with the support of the proposals, which in practice give the right to form a quasi-group, the ruling party is buying a quorum. According to the observations of the Socialists, today the quorum of 121 people is assured by the decisive vote of the last break – Paralympic Mikhail Hristov.
In criticism of the proposal, the BSP announced that the ruling party is buying a quorum, ready to turn the rules of parliament into a napkin and crawl on its stomach only to stay in power until March. They accused GERB and BSP of political marriage breakdowns, which the Socialists denied. The MRF, on the other hand, suggested that the rule changes be called “drowning straw catches.”
In response, GERB accused the BSP of being ready to form a coalition with the coronavirus, as they do not want the parliament to work on important issues, including. and for the approval of the budget. The authorities also criticized President Rumen Radev for not respecting the measures against the coronavirus, but for wanting to form an interim government at all costs.
After a quorum of 121 deputies was secured this morning, GERB disarmed the opposition from failing in session by immediately requesting a roster check; this procedure can only be used once a day. There were also representatives of the MRF in the room, who in principle do not register for the quorum either.
