“We hope that the European Commission will successfully complete the negotiation of the COVID-19 vaccines and that they will be here for Bulgarian citizens in April. This was stated by the Minister of Health, Prof. Kostadin Angelov, during the weekly briefing of the health authorities on the distribution of COVID-19.

“We do not have a specific drug to treat the coronavirus. We hope that one will be found soon,” the minister added.

Health authorities propose new measures to combat COVID-19

“We are entering an extremely serious phase of the epidemic. Wearing a mask indoors – this is the measure that saves lives,” Angelov said.

“This is a measure that reduces the number of patients who need to be admitted to a medical institution. The next measure is social and physical distance. Avoid meetings, avoid crowds in public places and limit travel if not necessary,” said the minister. .

“From the beginning we said that the percentage of positive cases will increase in the fall. In this situation, the most important measure is to show common sense and think about our loved ones, whom we can protect ”, he urged.

According to him, our country has sufficient personal protective equipment. Another 1,700 vials of Remdesivir arrive today, part of the agreed delivery to Bulgaria for November. More than 4,300 vials are expected next week.

“The doctor always evaluates the benefits and risks of using a drug. There are other drugs in the treatment regimens besides Remdesivir. Treatment with it is carried out according to criteria that are approved and sent to all medical institutions. Today they will be sent to you from new, “Angelov said. He added: “All medical institutions since the beginning of the pandemic have been working on protocols that are available around the world and have proven their effectiveness to date.”

“Today we send a treatment protocol to all hospitals in the country, prepared by experts from several large hospitals, which have been treating the coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic,” Angelov added.

Once again, more than 4,000 new infected with COVID-19 and many died

“In general, the pressure on the hospitals in Sofia is very high,” said Pirogov director Professor Asen Baltov. “Pirogov is one of the medical institutions that has already implemented and manufactured 200 beds for moderate patients and increased the number of beds for intensive care patients who need resuscitation,” he added.

“I want to thank all the citizens who follow the measures and who really understood what it is like to have this great pressure on hospitals and on us and help us in this way,” said Baltov.

He recalled: “At the first symptoms of discomfort – a slight rise in temperature, muscle weakness, similar to muscle fever, stay home, do not go to work. Stay home for at least 1-2 days. If problems get worse, see your doctor When you don’t have one, you can go to RHI specialists.

According to him, there should be a differentiation in the treatment of infected patients. “Currently, the pressure on hospitals doing triage that GPs can do is enormous.” If the personal physician takes responsibility and takes care of the treatment of light patients literally from day one to the moment they need treatment in a hospital will be much easier for us, “said the director of” Pirogov “.
