Magistrates of specialized courts and prosecutors will each receive 16 salaries next year. This was made clear in the budget of the Judicial Power for 2021, voted on Wednesday by the Legal Commission, in this case we are talking about about 70 judges and prosecutors who work in the four specialized structures of the Judicial Power. Almost 3,900 magistrates work in the judiciary.
Three years ago, the ruling GERB, United Patriots and MRF predicted that special magistrates would receive a bonus of up to six salaries a year for the work they do. Each year after the budget is approved, the SJC can determine exactly how many extraordinary salaries the special magistrates will receive.
It turns out that 2021 will be a record year for the amount of salaries for specials. This happens despite the fact that the Special Prosecutor’s Office was involved in the mega-scandal “Los Ocho Enanitos”, which apparently does not affect the deputies.
In this context, no matter how busy the other “normal” judges are with the cases, they will be able to receive up to three additional salaries for the work they have done. The only reason for this is that they are not “special”. The budget of the Judiciary provides for a 10% increase in remuneration in solidarity for everyone in the system.
The budget of the judiciary next year is a record and reaches 909 million BGN. The budget of the prosecution is increased by 41 million BGN, that of the courts is almost 90 million BGN more. The Defense Office under the Attorney General receives a bonus of BGN 5 million from the government.
SJC representative Boyan Magdalinchev said the budget would allow for the appointment of 100 paralegals, 74 systems administrators and 138 secretaries.
