30% of those tested for one day in Bulgaria have a positive test for coronavirus. The number of hospital patients is close to 3,000.

Against this background, in one of the first red zones with the most infected per capita, Plovdiv, Councilor Kiril Tarev celebrated his birthday with colleagues and friends at a noisy midnight party.

On the occasion of the party for the councilman’s birthday in a restaurant, neighbors sent signals to 112, but to no avail.

Ivaylo Spasov sent a signal to all the institutions, outraged by the response of the police at the scene. The man understands that the party belongs to local government people.

In a telephone conversation, the birthday boy explained that it was a surprise party, regretted that they got carried away and continued until late.

“It turned out to be a nice birthday thanks to my friends. I do not think I have done anything wrong, that I have met for my 30th birthday with 70 people in a restaurant for 400 people, all measures have been taken,” said Councilor Tarev.

The restaurant with normal business hours until 11pm says they rented the restaurant for the night.
“We were asked to organize a private event … and it was explicitly written that it should end at 11:30 pm,” said the restaurant’s manager, Deyan Naydenov.

A friend of the councilor took over the party.

“He did not want to celebrate a birthday, I wanted to be a surprise and I was the organizer, we are old friends of his father,” explained Yuri Gadov.

Due to the party, which lasted until the early hours, crisis staff also prohibited restaurants from working after 11:30 pm, and the restaurant with the night party was fined BGN 3,000.

The number of patients in Plovdiv is increasing: during the last 24 hours, the cases are 255.
