Prime Minister Boyko Borissov held a video conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the government press service said.

“Bulgaria and I are grateful for the commitment of the German presidency and you personally for finding formulas that will allow the Republic of North Macedonia to start negotiations on membership in the European Union,” Prime Minister Borissov told Merkel.

Before the German Chancellor, Prime Minister Borissov expressed Bulgaria’s position, presented yesterday by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ekaterina Zaharieva, in Berlin.

During the 40-minute conversation, Borissov expressed confidence that with the help of Germany, especially during his presidency of the EU Council, correct and correct decisions on the issue will be reached, the press service added.
