The European Football Championship could be held entirely in Russia, not in 11 countries, according to the French newspaper Le Parisien, citing UEFA sources. According to the media, it is highly unlikely that the championship will be played in all countries, as originally planned. UEFA EURO 2020 has been postponed to next summer, when the coronavirus pandemic is expected to be contained.
However, the European football headquarters is making layoff options, if things don’t change dramatically in the coming months. “There is a high probability that the entire championship will be held in Russia. According to official data, the country has a low level of coronavirus infection, and the country also has a sufficient number of stadiums as it hosted the 2018 World Cup.” UEFA sources said.
Currently, UEFA EURO 2020 is scheduled to take place in 12 cities in 11 European countries (12 UEFA federations) from July 11 to July 11, 2021. Russia will host four tournament matches: three group stage matches and a quarterfinal, and the host city is Saint Petersburg.
