The prosecutor’s office ordered an inspection of a wedding party at the old “Armira” villa in Ivaylovgrad. The reason is a signal on social media that the guests to the celebration have stepped on the ancient mosaics.

In the old villa an organization was made to walk only glass paths, so as not to violate the integrity of the ancient mosaics. On Saturday, however, a casual visitor filmed that guests at a private wedding were violating this provision.
Villa Armira has been closed to visitors for several months. The reason is an upcoming repair project. However, by decision of the City Council, weddings can be held there. This is exactly what the random visitors found, who shared photos of some of the guests who stepped on the ancient mosaics on social media.
The movement of visitors to the old villa is only allowed in these glass paths on the mosaic itself, however, on Saturday during the wedding some of the guests did not follow these rules. Today, the Prosecutor’s Office ordered an investigation of the case. According to posts on social media, Mayor Diana Ovcharova personally led the wedding ceremony. Today he is in the hospital.

“In general, the Ivaylovgrad municipality recognizes its mistake that it is allowed to step on these historical artifacts, but again, our position is that it is allowed to comply with the measures of meter and a half between people,” said Svetla Mollova – Deputy Mayor from the Ivaylovgrad municipality.
The rituals in the old village are decided by the local municipal council. The mayor’s own office has yet to investigate the case. At first glance, there are no injuries to the mosaics, but experts have not yet established this. The deadline to complete the inspection is 30 days.
