The GERB deputy and president of the temporary parliamentary commission for the new constitution, Desislava Atanasova, attributed the words of President Alexander Lukashenko to Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. It was provoked by a question from the host of the program “120 minutes” on BTV Maria Tsancarova, who replaces the coronavirus-infected Svetoslav Ivanov.

“Come, sit down and work on the Constitution. And I will hand over my powers under the Constitution. But not under pressure or on the street. To whom are these words,” was the question of the host, and Atanasova’s response was that they belonged to the first Minister Borissov.

“No, these words belong to Alexander Lukashenko,” Tsantsarova replied, then asked Atanasova if she was worried about sewing words to Borissov’s dictator, recognized by several European countries.

“In no case can such a parallel be drawn. For a dictatorship, if we speak, the daily protests of people who have been protesting for more than 100 days will not be broadcast,” Atanasova said. She added that she expected to be provoked by the quotes from Borissov’s statements and was therefore confused.

Atanasova admitted that the commission to discuss the government’s proposal for a new constitution had met only once in about two months, and only in 15 minutes. “Unfortunately, the pandemic thwarted our plans,” he said.

The GERB deputy added that he did not know who was the author of the constitutional changes introduced by the GERB. She specified that according to her, former Justice Minister Danail Kirilov is the author of the first project, which was not presented to Parliament. According to her, this is a “regrettable project”.
