The Belarusian authorities have announced that as of today, border crossings for entry into the country by land and sea for foreigners are temporarily closed to slow the spread of the coronavirus. This was announced by the State Border Committee.
The country can only be entered by air and only through the airport in the capital, Minsk. The restriction does not affect Russian citizens transiting the territory of Belarus to their country.
However, entry to foreigners with diplomatic and service passports, members of official delegations, drivers of vehicles in international road transport, as well as international couriers, drivers and crews of international trains.
In the last 24 hours, 977 people infected with the coronavirus were registered in Belarus, compared to 983 yesterday. In recent days there has been a sharp increase in the number of infected, reaching a total of 99,459 (1.05 percent of the population), of which 985 have died.
