Grigor Dimitrov lost the quarterfinals of the ATP 500 tournament in Vienna to Daniel Evans with 6: 7 (3: 7), 6: 4, 3: 6.

The match began with an exchange of advances. First, Evans got to braille when Dimitrov passed by and noticed. In his pass, the Briton also broke and allowed the tie. Game 3 went well for Grigor – 40:15, but our first racket complicated things and even had to erase the break point. However, Grigor did not allow Evans to make a second consecutive breakthrough and came out ahead in the result.

The Bulgarian continued to have difficulties in his passing and in the fifth game he made a breakthrough, although again there was a 40:15 advance. At the break point, Dimitrov made a mistake over his head, kicking the ball out and, again, was already behind in the score – 2: 3. Evans easily solidified the 2: 4 lead.

Grigor quickly managed to equalize the score by 4: 4. In the end, the battle for the first set had to end with a tiebreak. It developed very unpleasantly for Grigor, who took the first point, but then his opponent made a series of 5 in a row and with 7: 3 Evans won the first hour of the first set.

At the start of the second set, the Briton received a break point, but Grigor did not break and took the lead with 1: 0. Immediately after that, it was the Bulgarian’s turn to get breakthrough points, at 15:40. The first opportunity was eliminated by the Englishman, but in the second Evans made a mistake at the net and that meant a breakthrough for Dimitrov – 2: 1. Grigor confirmed the break for a 3: 1 lead

Grisso had the opportunity to further increase his lead, but was unable to do so and Evans made the score 2: 3. Dimitrov’s passes started to get easier and serving for the set at 5: 4, the Bulgarian allowed no hesitation: a game of 15 and third set.

The third set did not start well for Grigor, who had a game ball on his first pass at 40:30, but still made a breakthrough. Evans solidified his lead and then took the lead with 0: 3. With much effort, Haskovo managed to narrow his gap to 1: 3. A new marathon game and 1: 4 for Evans followed. Grigor won his service game without a problem, but then Evans only gave the Bulgarian a point on his pass and took the lead with 5: 2. In the eighth game a tie of 30:30 was reached, but Dimitrov managed to come out and stay at the match. However, Daniel Evans did not allow a breakthrough and continued until the semi-finals, where he will play Lorenzo Sonega, who presented the surprise, removing world number 1 Novak Djokovic.
