An earthquake was felt in our country shortly before 2:00 p.m. today, according to information from the European Seismological Center.

The earthquake was felt in the upper floors of the buildings in the center of Sofia. Its epicenter is in Greece and has a magnitude of 6.9 on the Richter scale according to initial data and took place near the Dodecanese islands, with a depth of 10 km.

A 4.1 magnitude earthquake in eastern Turkey

So far no casualties or damage have been reported.

According to the Kathimerini newspaper, the earthquake had a magnitude of 6.6 on the Richter scale and shook the island of Samos, in the eastern Aegean Sea. The earthquakes were felt as far as the Greek capital, nearly 300 kilometers away, said the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens (NOA).

Well-known journalist Neri Terzieva, who lives in the Trakia region, said that the earthquake was also felt in Plovdiv.

“Many residents of Plovdiv felt the earthquake. We were affected by an earthquake 12 minutes ago, the epicenter was in Rhodes – 6.4 on the Richter scale. My husband’s family’s 150-year-old home, where the children live.
