A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6 on the Richter scale shook Greece and Turkey. There are data of 8 dead and more than 200 injured. Many people are still being sought.
The epicenter is not far from the Greek island of Samos and near Kusadasi. There is great destruction in Izmir, Turkey and on the Greek island of Samos.

Minutes before 3 p.m., a strong earthquake shook the Turkish city of Izmir. The shaking lasted half a minute.
Buildings collapse in seconds. So far, 10 buildings have been reported collapsed in Izmir and another 20 in the region.
The rescue teams managed to remove 70 buried from the rubble. The search continues. Many people were evacuated from their homes.
The earthquake flooded the coastal streets.
The earthquake affected 6 provinces of Turkey, including Istanbul, but there were no significant damages or casualties.
So far, Bulgarian diplomats in the southern neighbor have no data on the wounded Bulgarians.

In Greece, the greatest destruction is on the island of Samos. Two students were killed in the street by a collapsed wall.
Eight other people were injured. The island’s road network is interrupted, the airport is closed. The earthquake was also felt in the Greek capital, Athens.

The earthquake was also felt in our country, in the upper floors of Plovdiv, as well as in Burgas and Shumen.
The magnitude of the earthquake was calculated at 7 points, but in the territory of Bulgaria it was 2-3 degrees, explained in front of the bTV camera Professor Emil Botev from the Geophysical Institute of BAS.
According to him, the earthquake was felt mainly by people from the south of the country and people who lived on high floors.
