“If we talk about the new Bulgarian budget, a lot of money is given, I am not against that, but I think that the next two years will be in deficit. The question is how we will help companies, because many of the measures are socially oriented, ”former Finance Minister Simeon Djankov told Nova TV.
He believes that now you should not try to help, but have a plan on how to act in the next wave. According to him, however, this is not the case in Bulgaria and he gave as an example measure 60/40, for which the government has reserved 4 months to introduce it.
“It is good to have social measures, but neither children nor pensioners produce a national product. That’s what business does. And if they don’t help him now, it will be too difficult after that, “thinks Djankov.
The former finance minister believes that the world was not prepared for the coronavirus and waited unnecessarily.
“Unfortunately, we are still learning. Even large countries like the United States are doing poorly and learning as they go. Here the measures have not dropped and almost everything is closed. Everyone has been home for 7 months and the big ones organizations plan to open in just one year, “Djankov said.
He added that in the United States there was an underestimation of the virus by the presidential administration, unlike in Europe. According to him, in this way the crisis has deepened and the country has quickly faced several waves.
“If we close again, most of the sectors will not be able to get out of the crisis. The economy is dynamic, but many companies will disappear. Others can be created, but this will happen slowly, “Dyankov explained.
