The assailant broke into a local church and killed two of those present. There are also injuries, but the exact number is not yet clear. According to initial data, this is terrorism, the mayor of the city Christian Estrosi commented on Twitter.
The attacker was arrested on the spot.

After Patty’s murder, French authorities, backed by many ordinary citizens, insisted that the cartoons be shown. They were reprinted in most of the French media, drawing the ire of the Muslim world. This led to accusations against French President Emmanuel Macron that he was pursuing an anti-Islamist goal.
It is not yet clear whether the attack in Nice was in any way related to Patti, but French authorities have been warning for days that further terrorist attacks are likely.
