Twenty percent of those infected with coronavirus, among other symptoms, have a skin rash, according to observations by doctors at the Alexandrovska Hospital Clinical Allergology Clinic.

Very rarely, the symptom appears as initial, in less than 1% of those affected by the disease. The COVID-19 rash can affect the entire body, according to research by Bulgarian doctors.

The new measures in our country come into force at midnight

COVID-19 can affect the skin in the same way that the virus affects other organs, says associate professor Maria Staevska, head of the Clinical Allergology Clinic at Alexandrovska Hospital: “20% of coronavirus patients have skin rashes , any skin manifestation. It is also an organ similar to the lungs, the heart, the nervous system. The virus can affect any organ. In those patients who have skin problems, about 20% have hives. “

In 10% of patients with hives, the rash was the first symptom, says Associate Professor Staevska: “We had cases of this type. A patient with hives comes very acute, we take him to the clinic. In fact, we treat him for three days and he has no problems. At the clinic we do a rapid test, which is negative, and in fact in this patient, since everything is fine, at one point it turns out on the third day that he develops the other symptoms of COVID-19 “.

REGISTRATION AGAIN: 2569 new cases of COVID-19 in our country

There is no connection between the severity of the two diseases in coronavirus and hives, Associate Professor Staevska added: “Patients with COVID-19 and hives, who actually have hives, in no case make it worse.”

The data from the doctors at the Alexandrovska Hospital Clinical Allergology Clinic coincide with the research of their colleagues from different countries, who have studied 202 patients with coronavirus and urticaria in 502 international scientific publications. In about 10% of those affected, the rash was also the first symptom
