A woman with COVID-19 gave birth to a baby in the obstetrics and gynecology department of Haskovo hospital, writes haskovo.live.
“The girl, who weighs 4.4 kg, was born normally at 7:15 am yesterday,” said department head Dr. Ergun Kehayov.
Everything is fine with the 31-year-old mother and baby. Due to the positive result of the mother, who does not present symptoms of infection (fever, cough or alteration of taste and smell), a sector of the room was isolated. At the last moment, due to ruptures in the mother, Dr. Ergun Kehayov had to intervene in the delivery. On the recommendation of specialists, this morning a swab was taken from the baby for a PCR test, the result of which was negative.
The woman in labor is isolated and can be discharged on Wednesday. The father is a 40-year-old man from Dimitrovgrad Municipality, who recently passed away at Haskovo Hospital. He was also infected with coronavirus and had no comorbidities. For the 31-year-old woman, this is her first birth. The girl will be called Juliet. That’s what the baby’s father wanted before he was killed in the pandemic.
