There is no panic among the inhabitants of the Sandanski and Strumyani municipalities about the earthquake in the area. The earthquake measuring 2.9 on the Richter scale occurred near Sandanski today, according to a report by the Seismological Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. It was felt at 1:01 pm and the depth was 14 km.
Its epicenter was 10 km northwest of Sandanski, near Strumyani, and 115 km north of Thessaloniki, according to the European Seismological Center.
The municipal administrations of Sandanski and Strumyani have received no signs of material damage. The earthquake was not felt by the people on the lower floors and in the houses.
