A head of a criminal gang has been arrested, who in 2013, together with several bandits, committed a series of armed robberies in Plovdiv and surrounding towns, the Plovdiv Prosecutor’s Office announced in a briefing. Ivan Totev, 30, from the town of Zlatitrap, carried out robberies mainly at small points of sale: gas stations and 24-hour stores. He had different accomplices for different crimes, between 4 and 5 people. Ivan Totev’s right-hand man, Boris L., was also arrested. Several young men were questioned as witnesses.

The head of the criminal group has confessed after a few days ago Plovdiv criminal investigators searched his home and found evidence of theft. Ivan Totev always left for his robberies from his home in Zlatitrap in disguise. He was carrying a gas pistol, which was often unloaded. He broke into the site, conducted the mind of the employee, pointed the gun at him, and took the money. The sums raised by the band ranged from BGN 250 to BGN 400. In all the robberies, Ivan T. put a karting cap on his head and, when he entered the designated site, he also put on the hood of his sweatshirt for safety.

Thus, a gas station on the road to the town of Kadievo and several 24-hour shops in different regions of Plovdiv were robbed. Ivan Totev and his accomplice were arrested on October 22 and several men from the villages of Orizari and Zlatitrap, who were involved in the case, were questioned. They all have criminal offenses, for robbery and mainly for possession of drugs and driving under the influence of drugs. His age is between 28 and 30 years. The robberies were carried out throughout 2013. The total amount of the 7 robberies amounts to 2,400 BGN. After that, Ivan T. began working as a firefighter, according to unconfirmed information in the fire service of a town near Plovdiv. The perpetrators face prison terms of 5 to 15 years and confiscation of part of the property.
