Beroe and Pirin played an impressive match that ended on a scoreboard 4: 3 in favor of the winners in the final match of 1/16 of the tournament for the Bulgarian Cup. Dimitar Dimitrov’s former student made an impressive turn in the final ten minutes of the match, scoring three goals. Eagles forward Preslav Yordanov gave his team an early lead, but in the final minutes of the first half Gaius Makuta restored the tie. In the background of added time in the first half, the hosts’ goalscorer was again accurate with his head, giving Blagoevgrad the lead. The Eagles had the first opportunity to threaten Hristian Vassilev’s door. Preslav Yordanov took advantage of a mistake by Teddy Mezag and passed Stanislav Manolev. The experienced footballer tried to find Spas Georgiev in the penalty area, but his pass was too strong and the wing missed the ball.
The most active game of the hosts paid off in the 5th minute of the game. Pirin organized a quick attack. Stanislav Manolev came out down the left wing. The midfielder centered in the penalty area, where Hristian Vassilev hung, and on the rear beam John Aina dropped to invading speed Preslav Yordanov and headed close.
Beroe was quick to respond to the challenge and the Zaralians pressed in the next few minutes. The left flank was very active, where Krum Stoyanov and Gaius Makuta acted, but there were no dangers for Francesco Ruberto.
In the 12th minute, Stara Zagora was able to equalize after Erivaldo crossed sharply into the box from a corner kick and Aliun Fal technically tried to score with a fifth, but Stilian Nikolov cleared from the goal line.
The pressure from the guests continued and two minutes later Krum Stoyanov focused on the penalty area, where Erivaldo shot his head, but very inaccurately and Francesco Ruberto’s goal was not threatened.
Beroe continued to exert a lot of pressure and this led to errors in the delivery of the ball by the hosts. In one of them, the guests organized a rapid attack from the right flank. Juney Ali crossed into the box and Erivaldo headed in, overtaking Nikolai Bodurov, but the ball went through the left post.
A minute later, Gaius Makuta fired a long shot, but it missed the target.
In the 21st minute Erivaldo controlled the ball on the edge of the penalty area. The striker made a solid shot, but Francesco Ruberto killed decisively on a corner kick.
Pirin responded on the counterattack. The Eagles organized a new fast counterattack. Spas Georgiev took control from the left and changed direction, then sharply centered into the penalty area, where John Aina headed in, but the ball went through the left post.
In the 26th minute, Zaralii organized a quick attack. Erivaldo was the last to play with the ball. The striker moved into the penalty area and shot from a small angle, after which the ball hit the right post and did not double the net behind Francesco Ruberto again.
Beroe was installed in the middle of the hosts, but that did not pose any danger in front of Pirin’s guard. At the same time, the Eagles were waiting for the right moment to organize quick counterattacks, taking advantage of the spaces opened by Zaralii’s attacking game.
In the 39th minute, Preslav Yordanov held on down the right wing and then crossed to the ground in the penalty area. Spas Georgiev controlled and hit, but the ball went through the left post of the gate guarded by Hristian Vassilev.
Two minutes later, Beroe restored the tie. The guests organized a good deed of various passes. Octavio passed Ivan Minchev in the penalty area, who technically followed up with a fifth to Gaius Makuta. The striker shot into the far corner and scored – 1: 1.
In added time in the first half, Pirin again came out ahead in the result. The Eagles put together a good counterattack. Spas Georgiev passed Alexander Dyulgerov from the left. The defender crossed into the penalty area, where spotted Preslav Yordanov scored in the left corner.
At half-time, hosts coach Warren Feeney made a change to his lineup, including Anton Karachanakov in place of Krassimir Stanoev, who received a yellow card in the first half. For his part, Dimitar Dimitrov made changes to his team’s game scheme. The Bulgarian specialist bet on three centrals during the second 45 minutes, increasing his attack power on the wings.
In the 47th minute against Beroe he opened a good opportunity for the tie. Gaius Makuta entered the area and shot, but the ball collided with Nikolai Bodurov’s feet and went out on a corner kick.

The guests exerted massive pressure in the following minutes, but the defense against Francesco Ruberto held steady and managed to attack the fans.
In the 66th minute Pirin struck a third blow at Beroe’s ambitions. The Eagles put together an excellent counterattack. Anton Karchanakov made the last pass, introducing Preslav Yordanov into the penalty area, after which the forward with a measured kick through the legs of Hristian Vassilev formed his hat trick.
Zaralii tried to pressure the opponent and reduce the score. In the 74th minute Krum Stoyanov crossed into the penalty area, where Aliun Fal shot with his head, but over the crossbar.
Four minutes later Dimo Bakalov was taken out of the penalty area, after which the wing focused on the ground, but almost from the goal Stilyan Nikolov intervened decisively and cleared the ball.
In the 81st minute Beroe reduced the score. Alexander Tsvetkov put Aliun Fall behind defense perfectly. The forward stepped forward and calmly passed the ball through Francesco Ruberto’s legs.
Immediately afterwards, Zaralii had a good chance to reestablish the equalizer, but Alexander Vassilev’s long shot fell into the hands of the “Aguiluchos” goalkeeper.
In the 84th minute Beroe scored the desired third goal. After dragging his feet in the penalty area, Aliun Fal was the most ingenious and as he fell to the ground he fired the ball into the lower right corner of the gate. But it was suspected that the ambush had been hit.
In the following minutes the guests besieged Pirin’s door, and twice Francesco Ruberto intervened decisively.
Deep in added time of the match, Beroe received a second penalty. Aliun Fall entered the penalty area at high speed, after which he was fouled by Francesco Ruberto and Nikolay Yordanov pointed to the white spot. Gaius Makuta stepped behind the ball and with a well-aimed shot in the middle of the gate made a full turn, sending his team into the 1/8 finals of the Bulgarian Cup.
