The renovation of a key boulevard in Sofia has stalled: the expansion of Todor Kableshkov Blvd. will be completed in the spring at the earliest.
Civil society organizations reported a problem with reconstruction in the summer.
The project for the expansion of Todor Kableshkov Blvd. is one of the keys for the municipality of Sofia: it is part of the new internal rings that eliminate traffic from the center.
Repairs started in early June
Work began in early June with the construction of a new road.
Along the renovated boulevard, cars will move in three lanes in the direction, new wide sidewalks and the construction of bike lanes are planned.
The section is 1 kilometer. At this stage, however, asphalt is being laid at the intersection with Louis Ayer Street. Traffic will launch in mid-November.
The reasons for the delay were objective: both bad weather and Toplofikatsiya repairs, says the municipality. Therefore, there will be no penalties for the contractor.
Save Sofia has been alerting for delays since the summer
Already in summer, the civil organization “Salve Sofía” warned about the delay and showed how the workers are inactive.
“District heating” is the bad guy who has not planned something to save the huge fines that are anticipated for non-compliance. The project was ready a long time ago. It was time to literally agree with the penguins and the polar bears, ”said Boris Bonev, city councilor and representative of Save Sofia.
The residents of the neighborhood affirm that they are already noticing defects.
The municipality provides 9.2 million BGN for the project.
