Masks become mandatory outdoors on Thursday. This was announced by the Minister of Health, Prof. Kostadin Angelov, in a briefing after a meeting with the expert councils. The measure will be in effect until the end of November. Also starting tomorrow, the quarantine for asymptomatic patients with a positive sample is 10 days.

Many doctors and nurses have set out to wear face masks outdoors, and the reason for this is the high growth of new infections.

“The use of masks can reduce the incidence of infection by up to 30% – this is a report prepared in Canada by a Bulgarian,” said pulmonologist Dr. Alexander Simidchiev.

However, the experts recalled that the masks should only be used if they are clean:

“After about 2 to 4 hours, it begins to become a breeding ground for infections rather than protection. And most likely we will get to Escherichia coli and other bacteria that are not characteristic of the respiratory system,” said allergist Tihomir Mustakov.

We crossed the limit of 1000 new infected per day.

“We expect a reduction in morbidity if the measures are strictly observed. One day we will give Bulgarian citizens the opportunity to obtain masks and from Thursday the new order will come into effect,” said Professor Angelov.

“Our aim is to reduce the number of infected Bulgarians so that they can be admitted to hospitals less and die less,” added the minister.

He also commented on the incidence in the Lovech region. Six hospitals participated in the treatment of COVID symptoms. There are two main participants in this activity: Lovech and Troyan Medical Establishments. There are enough free beds. The learning process will continue in the Lovech schools, “added Prof. Angelov.

He answered journalists’ questions on the matter with the positive test for coronavirus of the new Chief of the Air Force – Gen. Dimitar Petrov.

“Minister Karakachanov isolated himself the day he learned that he had been in contact with the positive for coronavirus, on Sunday. President Radev, who was also in contact with General Petrov, will be quarantined,” explained Professor Angelov . .

He also revealed details about the activities of the National Logistics Center. It will be located in Sofia and will function as a call center 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The country will be divided into 6 main administrative districts. The center will have the task of carrying out an efficient logistics of all interactions between the institutions.

And in Sofia, where traditionally there are more patients, two more private hospitals will accept COVID-19 patients starting today.
