Coronavirus in Bulgaria: Plovdiv returns restrictions and initiates mass mask controls (timeline)

The capacity of the COVID ward of the Pirogov Emergency Hospital has been reached, with the exception of the intensive care beds, which are maintained for very serious cases, the hospital director, Prof. Asen Baltov, said in an interview with Nova TV .

He specified that in the last week the patients admitted for coronavirus in “Pirogov” have doubled and reached 68, since four are in intensive care. New patients are admitted only after patients are discharged, explained Baltov, recalling that currently the maximum period of hospital treatment, except in severe cases, is 14 days.

Currently, local restrictions are very important to control the situation without causing closures throughout the country.

In response to a question, the hospital director said that at the request of the health authorities “Pirogov” can open new places for patients with coronavirus, but stressed that this would be to the detriment of patients with other diseases and added that there is a plan to how other hospitals to take sick.
